Flags allow us to quickly visually communicate the countries, currencies, languages and audiences we cater to and build for

Shape

Always maintain a consistent bounding box for the flag - the ratio of the bounding box should be 2:3

Corners of the bounding box should be 10% of the height of the bounding box - shown below as y and u

Scale

For flags below 130px or 45mm, greatly reduce the complexity of the elements and national symbols, while still maintaining the ease of identification

Border

Always use a simple border - 0.5px in Alto - around a flag to improve legibility and contrast
